Inner Community is a seven-story music school in New Orleans designed to foster connection and creativity. Each level is dedicated to a different musical space, from rehearsal studios to performance halls, while an open-air inner shell allows visual and acoustic interaction between floors. This transparency creates a dynamic environment where students and musicians can engage with each other, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of music.
The building's openness is most evident on the ground floor and at its central core, where wide entry points invite the public inside. This design encourages circulation and interaction, transforming the space into a welcoming cultural hub. The integration of open-air voids throughout the structure ensures natural ventilation and a sense of spatial fluidity, blurring the lines between private practice rooms and communal gathering spaces.

Situated on a prominent corner lot, Inner Community takes advantage of its strategic location by becoming an accessible landmark for the neighborhood. The corner placement enhances visibility, drawing in pedestrians and activating the streetscape. By merging architectural openness with urban engagement, the project not only serves as a music school but also as a vibrant gathering place for the broader community.
