Through DIS's Furniture Design Studio, I had the opportunity to delve into the rich history of Scandinavian furniture design, focusing on how it thoughtfully considers people, culture, materials, and society in its development. Through a combination of studio assignments, lectures, field studies, and hands-on workshop activities, I was able to explore this unique relationship and develop my own design skills.
The No.5 Chair is a custom-designed lounge chair, where solid wood and 0.08 mm navy blue polypropylene interplay to create a dynamic visual experience. From the side, the robust wooden frame commands attention, emphasizing structural elegance, while from the front, the intricately woven paracord seat takes center stage, showcasing a harmonious balance of form and function. This innovative design shifts perspectives, adding a unique visual appeal to any modern living space.
