The design concept for this mental health space draws inspiration from the growth rings found in tree trunks, symbolizing strength, resilience, and the cyclical nature of personal growth. The circular patterns of the rings are integrated into the architectural elements and interior design, creating a serene and contemplative environment.
Natural materials, soothing colors, and ample greenery will be incorporated to evoke a connection with nature, promoting a calming atmosphere that supports mental wellbeing. This design concept seeks to provide a sanctuary for neurodivergent individuals, encouraging self-reflection, growth, and a positive sense of renewal within the comforting embrace of nature-inspired aesthetics.
Old Main Lawn, situated at the heart of the University of Arkansas campus, serves as a bustling hub for students seeking tranquil escape from the academic endeavors, immersing themselves in the serenity of nature. As the oldest building on campus and an iconic symbol of the university, Old Main provides the perfect backdrop for creating a mindscape.
The radial floor plan organizes the space around the central tree, offering a layout that radiate outwards like growth rings. This design fosters efficient circulation, maximizes natural light exposure, and facilitates a more open and interconnected environment, enhancing both functionally and aesthetic appeal.
The interior and bench area are discreetly nestled in the structure, offering a heightened level of privacy while maintaining a continuous circulation flow around a central tree. This design seamlessly integrates secluded spaces with the overall circulation, providing both privacy and a harmonious connection to nature.
